FAQ'S PEELS

Medik8 Chemical Peels
Medik8 professional chemical peels are designed to visibly resurface, refine and retexturise the skin. Using targeted exfoliating acids and Medik8’s Time Release technology, they can help improve the appearance of uneven tone, texture, blemishes and fine lines, revealing skin that looks smoother, brighter and more refined.

Why Medik8 Peels?
Powerful without the unnecessary discomfort.
Medik8’s unique Time Release Technology gradually delivers exfoliating acids into the skin, helping to minimise stinging while maintaining effective resurfacing. The result is high-performance peeling with greater comfort and minimal downtime.

Prepare Your Skin Before Your Medik8 Peel

For the best possible results from your Medik8 peel, we recommend pre-treatment skin priming for 2 weeks before treatment. This combines vitamin C in the morning and vitamin A in the evening, alongside daily sunscreen. This helps support skin-cell renewal and can reduce the healing time.
Pre-treatment preparation is recommended before the following Medik8 peels:
Total Skin Reset Peel · Rewind Peel · Even Peel · Clarity Peel
Your skincare routine will be tailored to your individual skin. If you are new to vitamin A, your therapist will advise you on the most appropriate product and how to introduce it gradually to minimise the risk of irritation. Please do not introduce new or additional active products without discussing them with your therapist first. Your skin should be healthy and free from significant irritation or a compromised skin barrier before treatment.

Can I have just one peel?
Yes. A single peel can provide a visible refresh and leave the skin looking smoother and brighter.
For more progressive, longer-term results, a course of treatments may be recommended.
Medik8 commonly recommends a course of six peels, although your treatment plan will depend on your skin type, concerns and how your skin responds.
Are Medik8 peels suitable for everyone?
Medik8 offers different professional peels designed for a range of skin types and concerns. However, not every peel is suitable for every client.
Your skin will be assessed before treatment so we can determine whether a peel is appropriate and select the most suitable treatment for you.
For your safety, please tell us before treatment if you:
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding - contraindicated to treatment
  • have cuts, abrasions, sunburn, eczema or a compromised skin barrier
  • have an active bacterial, viral or fungal infection
  • are taking or have recently taken acne medication such as Roaccutane (isotretinoin)
  • have recently had injectables, laser or another cosmetic treatment
  • are under medical supervision or taking medication that may affect your skin
Depending on your circumstances, we may recommend waiting until your skin has fully recovered or seeking advice from your GP or dermatologist before treatment. We advise allowing 6–12 months after completing a course of Roaccutane before professional peels.
Please also let your therapist know if you have a history of cold sores, as this can be relevant when planning a chemical peel.
What is the downtime?
Every skin responds differently. Following a peel, you may experience temporary redness, tightness, sensitivity, flaking or mild peeling.
As a general guide, flaking may begin around day three and can continue for several days. Medik8’s Time Release technology is designed to provide controlled release of the active ingredients for optimal comfort and minimal downtime.
During recovery, avoid direct sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day.
We also recommend avoiding makeup for the first 12 hours after treatment to allow the skin to settle and recover. Your therapist will provide personalised aftercare advice based on your skin and the peel performed.
What results can I expect?
Results vary from person to person and depend on the peel selected and your individual skin.
Typically, your skin may feel slightly tight and look mildly flushed during the first 24 hours. Mild flaking may begin around day three, and within a week the skin may appear smoother, clearer and more even-toned. With a course of treatments, improvements can become progressively more noticeable.
We recommend taking progress photographs so you can track your skin over time.
Can I have a peel alongside Botox, injectables or laser treatments?
Yes, but the timing and suitability will depend on the treatment you have had and how your skin has recovered.
Please tell us about any recent or planned cosmetic treatments, including Botox, dermal fillers, laser or laser hair removal. Your therapist can advise on appropriate timing and whether a peel is suitable.
Your Skin, Your Treatment
Every Medik8 peel is selected according to your individual skin needs. During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate peel and aftercare routine to help you achieve the best possible results safely.
